Salute our Troops

Head to one of our many beautiful local beaches and participate in the annual Salute from the Shore. If you’ve never participated before, Salute from the Shore is a great way to celebrate and support our troops. The non-profit organization creates an opportunity for South Carolina beachgoers to honor our armed forces by planning a military flyover of the entire South Carolina coast each Independence Day. According to their website, you can show your support by doing any or all of these things:

-Check the schedule for your flyover. Generally we see the planes in our area around 1pm.

-Go “BIG!” Get a huge flag or get creative.

-Then get to the beach on the 4th of July in all your red, white and blue!

-Tag your Salute images and videos with #SalutefromtheShore and make it personal. Whether you love someone serving overseas or remember a fallen hero, share your tribute. You can find out more about how to support the Salute from the Shore on this page.

See the Fireworks

The Sands Fireworks

One of my favorite local beaches, The Sands, is hosting their annual 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks again this year! You and your children will love the food, live music, and family activities at the Port Royal Beer Garden before the fireworks show, which kicks off this year at sunset.  A few reminders– there are no pets or coolers allowed and it is highly recommended that you bring along some bug spray.

Parris Island Fireworks

The Marine Corps Recruitment Depot on Parris Island will be welcoming the public again this year for a traditional Independence Day celebration. The Parris Island Band will perform patriotic music followed by an incredible fireworks display. Spend your day celebrating our freedom in the same place where roughly 16,000 men and women complete their marine corps training each year. In addition to the band and fireworks, this free event will have a kids’ fun zone, as well as beverages and souvenirs available for purchase.

Support Your Community

5K Firecracker Run

Support your country and your community and participate in this year’s LowCountry Habitat for Humanity 5K Firecracker Run. Offered both in person and virtually, this run is to help build houses in Northern Beaufort County as well as raise funding to build a new home for our friends at Help of Beaufort. Join Starting at 8am on Monday, July 4, 2022, on Bay & Newcastle Streets.  Run through historic downtown Beaufort and across the famous Woods bridge following a certified 5K course. All donations are greatly appreciated. This year’s donation goal is $25,000.

Small Business First Friday

Celebrate “Flags and Freedom” in historic downtown Beaufort on Friday July 1. The patriotic theme will be evident throughout the event with music in the streets and giveaways all evening. Enjoy strolling the community and supporting local businesses as shops stay open after hours until 8pm.
