Summer Break is almost here! If you’re like me, you may still be looking for some great summer programs and camps to keep your kids busy, happy, and moving over the long break from school. We are blessed to live in an area with plenty of great options to choose from. Whether your child is interested in performing arts, science, sports, fine arts, or a traditional camp experience, there is something for them!

Read on to learn more about some of my top picks for Beaufort, South Carolina summer camps this summer. 


STEM and Art Camps

Art Center of Coastal Carolina 

Summertime fun is ahead for ages 6 and up with the Arts Center's creative, action-packed summer camps. Their camps are unique in that they are meaningful skill-building projects, not just crafts, fostering creativity all summer long! Offering weekly sessions of Art, Theater, and STEAM Camps for ages 6-13. Pre-registration is required for all camps. In order to secure your spot, an online registration must be made. Summer CODEcamp

Ready to build your own new worlds? Learn essential coding skills for middle schoolers while constructing your own role playing game! Game On is a summer day camp hosted by the Beaufort Digital Corridor. June 5- June 9, 2023

Camp Conroy 2023 Writing Camp

The Pat Conroy Literary Center’s annual Camp Conroy is back and better than ever! Young writers and artists ages 8 to 14 can join us for a two-week day camp experience where they will have the chance to research, write, illustrate, edit, design, and publish their own book, both independently and collaboratively with peers. The camp will take place from June 12 to 23, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The camp will culminate in a closing reading on Friday afternoon, June 23. Presented in partnership with Beaufort Middle School, the camp will creatively explore this year's theme, “When we find ourselves on a voyage exploring the unknown, we discover extraordinary adventures leading to the most bountiful treasures.”

Junior Building Detectives

Hosted by the Historic Beaufort Foundation, the Junior Building Detectives camp is an opportunity for kids aged 8- 12 to learn about Beaufort’s historic architecture through hands-on activities, walking tours, and mystery-solving. Participants will construct their own buildings and present their creation on the final day of camp. The program runs from June 26-28. Registration packets can be found here

Sports and Dance Camps

Alliance Dance Academy Bluffton 

Two week long, half-day camps: Dance Camp(July 10-14) for ages 7 and up and Princess Camps(July 10-14 and August 7-11) for ages 3 and older.  They also offer shorter sessions and workshops. The “Sizzling Summer Session” from July 18-27 includes hip hop, tap, tumbling, and ballet and is available for Tiny Stars (age 2-3),  Twinkling Stars (age 3-5) and Shining Stars (age 5-8). Your child can also enjoy a month’s worth of dance instruction in just four days at one of their August Workshops. The cheer/Acro Workshop and Hip Hop Workshop are both for ages 5 and up. July 31-August 3

Beaufort Academy of Dance

Enjoy dancing, tumbling, and crafts at one of four great camps this summer. The Beach Princess  camp and Circus camp both run from June 21-25. Superhero Acro Camp and Princess Camp will take place July 12-16.

All summer  camps offer half and full day options and are for ages 3-10. Beaufort Academy of Dance is also offering summer dance classes for any dancers hoping to learn a new skill or add to their dance experience! 


Beaufort Academy

Beaufort Academy is offering a variety of half day and full day camps this summer. The themes include Cheer Camp, Tidal Creek Sports Camp, Basketball Camp and more. All camps will be held at Beaufort Academy unless noted otherwise and they are hosted by current staff and coaches. Camps are open to all students in the community with a limited number of registrants. They highly encourage early registration starting.  Take a peek at the list of programs and dates here 

Beaufort Community Sailing and Boating 

If your child is interested in getting on the water and learning a new skill, Sailing Camp at Beaufort Community Sailing and Boating is a great option. Their goal is to introduce sailing to youth in the Beaufort community to develop seamanship skills. They offer Summer Sailing Camp for all skill levels and a variety of ages. Registration is now open! 


Traditional Sleepaway and Day Camps

Beaufort County 2022 4-H 

  • SC 4-H Club Camp A SC tradition for over 50 years, Club Camp offers plenty of fun, friends, and adventure! Activities include: swimming, canoeing, high adventure elements and climbing tower, nature hikes, team sports, archery, nightly games and skits, a dance and talent show.

  • Camp Long: June 11-15, 2023

  • 4-H20 is a hands-on science inquiry program that provides children and adults with knowledge about their local water resources and teaches them the field, analytical and critical thinking skills they need to intelligently participate in making decisions that affect the quality of these aquatic systems. July 11th – July 13th; 9 a.m. – 3 p.m; Ages 10-14

  • Clovers in the Kitchen:  Learn kitchen safety and how to create classic as well as unique recipes; July 6 Ages 5-8

  • Junior Gardener: Youth will get to work on their green thumb at this garden themed camp! Campers will learn all about soils, plants, pollinators and more. Activities include: working in the garden, making recipes fresh from the garden, and making plant themed crafts.July 25-26 Ages 8-13

Beaufort County Public Summer Camps Hosted by Parks and Rec 

Beaufort County Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce that summer camp is becoming available to the public. Due to expected high demand for summer camps, all slots are on a lottery system. You can click on this link to enter the waitlist for specific recreation centers. You'll need to create a Rec Desk account to register for the lottery if you already don't have one. Ages 5-13. Camps will run Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm ALL SUMMER  beginning June 5th.

Camp Treasure Chest

Offering both Beaufort and Bluffton options, Camp Treasure Chest is the only summer camp in Beaufort County for children with severe development and related disabilities, ages 6-12 and 13-21. It is operated by the ABLE Foundation and it serves 30 - 60 children and young adults in Beaufort County who wouldn't otherwise benefit from any other summer camp experience. They’ve recently reopened applications for summer camps options after being closed due to Covid restrictions. You can learn more here

YMCA Summer CAMPS

The Wardle Family YMCA will host Traditional Camp, Specialty Camps and Discovery Kids Enrichment Camp at the Y in Port Royal. Click here to view their  2023 Summer Camp Brochure.


Neighborhood Camps

Celadon Summer Camp

Celadon camps offer a variety of programs this summer for kids five and up. There are fitness, yoga, arts, and nature camps to choose from! There is also an Art Intensive and Counselor-In-Training program for teens 13 – 16 years.

All Celadon camps are from 9 AM – 2 PM and include daily time in the pool. There is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 16 kids in each camp.

Cat Island Kids Camp

 Membership is not required to participate in the Cat Island Club Kids Summer Camp! This summer day camp rotates through activities like golf, water activities, tennis, art and crafts. All equipment is provided. The camp runs from June 5-8 and again August 7-10.
