Get Merry in Beaufort, SC

Holiday Cocktail

Let’s get festive in downtown Beaufort! I love that every holiday season comes with the promise of cheerful decorations, fabulous events, and delicious drinks! Keep reading for a list of my favorite merry sweets, treats, and libations in Beaufort.

Common Ground: One of my favorite things about living in the Lowcountry? I can enjoy a seasonal classic like a warm peppermint mocha, while also sitting outside looking out over the clear blue bay in Downtown Beaufort. Common ground is the place to be for a perfectly-spiced holiday pick-me-up to start your day. The Snowflake-- white mocha with peppermint— is one of my go-tos, while the the white mocha with Irish Cream is perfect for anyone who isn’t a fan of peppermint.

Herban Market: If you’re looking for something with local and organic ingredients, or if you have food sensitivities, look no further than this fabulous cafe! In addition to their fresh salads, sandwiches, and smoothies, they have seasonal beverages and sweets! I love the White Chocolate Matcha Latte with a slice of Eggnog Cheesecake. Other delights include the Vanilla Bean Goat Cheese Cheesecake, Dark Chocolate Beet Root Cupcakes, Peppermint Crinkles, Bread Pudding, Gingerbread Bundt Cake, Almond Cringle and Orange Cinnamon Cocoa Babka. Enjoy!

Old Bull Tavern: Come here for the atmosphere and stay for the festive speakeasy style cocktails. A moody environment for an intimate holiday get-together, or wind down. I recommend trying the “Glad Tidings,” with gin, aperol, rosemary syrup and fresh orange juice. Some other fan favorites include the classic Sazerac with Bulleit Rye, Pernod Rinse and Peychaud’s bitters or the seasonal draft beer flight.

Saltus River Grill: Here you will find not only a delicious dinner menu, but also plenty of options for the perfect wine pairing. Saltus boasts a long list of Merlots, Cabernets, Pinot Noirs, Unique Reds and Whites, Sauvignon Blancs, Pinot Gris and Grigios, Chardonnay, and high-end sparkling options include Dom Perignon and Veuve Clicquot. I highly recommend stopping in for a holiday celebration or date night.

Hearth: This local go-to for award-winning pizza also has some seriously delightful holiday beverages. Hearth is a fan-favorite known for fresh ingredients, both in their food selections and their drinks. Each season they craft a new sangria, and the Holiday Sangria does not disappoint! They also offer a Christmas House Ale for all of the beer lovers out there hoping to get festive!
Scout Southern Market: If you are a fan of ice cream even on the coldest of days, you have to try the Apple Cider Float at Scout! A seasonal change to their classic Sweet Tea Float, the Apple Cider variation is the perfect blend of sugar and spice! I look forward to ordering one every year. Grab a float and then check out their great selection of home goods and local gifts, perfect for any last minute shopping you may have to do.
